Description

There will be a Voluntary Framework of Accountability session at the ACCT symposium on Tuesday, October 1, 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The VFA is the first comprehensive national accountability system created FOR community colleges and BY community colleges. VFA provides accountability measures that encompass fully the diversity of students’ goals and educational experiences, as well as the full breadth of the community college mission.

The VFA and its data tool launch nationally this fall and AACC staff will frame what the journey for the VFA has been and update attendees on the status and future of the initiative.

After a short video on the aims and benefits of participating in the VFA and the reasons for adoption of the system, community college leaders will highlight case studies of colleges that are using the VFA including what participation looks like for colleges. Attendees will hear both the state perspective (how a state is using the VFA for advocacy) and the campus model.
The Journey to Completion will take place October 1, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and October 2, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Grand Hyatt Seattle, Seattle, Washington, preceding the ACCT Annual Leadership Congress. The symposium will create a unique setting for national, state, and local leaders to engage in formative dialogues on the current trends and issues in higher education and challenges facing community colleges today, while expert panelists will share tools to assist community college leaders. Colleges from across the nation will also lead demonstrations of “strategies that work,” from their campuses. Together, we will take an open and honest assessment of the journey we are on and what has been accomplished thus far.
